From the living room, step out onto the shaded back porch overlooking a lush terraced yard with a flowing stream.

The home sits on a private lot with many mature trees (including younger trees, there are over 100!). There are oaks, several species of pine, magnolias, blueberry bushes, white cedars, pawpaws (native fruit trees), loquats, sweet leaf and lots of shade loving plantings including cast iron plants, gardenia, english ivy, ferns, lilies, wild ginger, yuccas, partridge berry and over a dozen azaleas of various sizes and colors.

The yard is terraced, rising up from a flowing stream and the home is above the flood zone. The abundance of shade reduces summer heating costs so the central air is only needed a few times a year. With ivy, forest and gardens instead of a lawn, no mowing is ever needed.

There is another larger stream across the street and there are no houses opposite this home due to a city utilities project, which is not visible as it is screened by mature trees. There is only one house directly adjacent to this lot, and it has no windows on the side facing you. Plus the owners are extremely kind and private. This section of Buena Vista is very quiet, unlike hectic Ridgewood/Bay View drive.

The 1340 sq ft house was constructed in 1982 by a nature-loving retired couple and purchased in 2005 by a professional designer who has completely renovated the home in a fresh contemporary style.
"Popcorn ceilings" were removed from the entire house. All the flooring has been replaced with tile and Flor carpet tiles. (If something spills, that carpet tile can be taken outside making cleanup quick and easy.) The kitchen now features beautiful, waterproof-sealed natural Indian slate counter tops, a new heavy gauge stainless oversized sink basin with new chrome faucet, a new ceiling fan and fresh white cabinets with brushed nickel pulls.

The adjacent living room has wall to wall carpet tile over tile, many windows, a fireplace, a vaulted ceiling, a picture rail encircling the whole room, a new sliding glass door with a built in sliding screen so you can enjoy the natural air and a spectacular contemporary chandelier which fills the room with a bright soft warm glow.

The home has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower and new light fixtures and faucet.
This room has many windows and a ceiling fan.

A second bedroom down the hall, also has windows on two walls and a ceiling fan.

The hall bath, across from the second bedroom, has a new light fixture, new faucet and new fan. It features a tub/shower unit. The hallway features new white wooden beaded board and crown molding, carpet tile and recessed ceiling lights.

The exterior of the home is finished in real cedar siding which has been completely repainted within the last year.
The home has a new shingled roof installed in 2006. The house also features a large, attached, two car carport and a wooden, painted deck on the rear of the home. All exterior doors have been replaced and all these doors now feature large windows.

And to top it off, the home has been re-piped in March with all new hot and cold water pipes. A secret in Lake Forest/Daphne is that minerals in the water cause copper pipes to rapidly deteriorate. All pipes were replaced before any major leaks occurred and the house is now sound and secure with new DuraPEX pipes.

Lake Forest is a great place to live. It has 300 acres of hiking, biking and horse riding trails. A small monthly association fee maintains playgrounds and swimming pools, tennis courts, stables and a large, rolling 18 hole golf course. It is very close to schools, shopping, and downtown Mobile--only 10 miles across the I-10 Bayway. Plus you are only minutes from the Forever Wild 5 Rivers Delta system & the Bartram Canoe Trail: some of the best flat water kayaking in the nation!

This home is a nature-lover's treasure and will house you in style for many years to come.

This comfortable, private home is... SOLD.
